How Will You Qualify for Legacy Retreat 2016?
How Will You Qualify for Legacy Retreat?
Legacy Retreat 2016 is less than 12 months away and we want to help you plan to get there! The first important step when qualifying is to understand exactly what you need to do.
Whether you’re a first-time qualifier or an alumni looking to earn another trip to Legacy Retreat, the qualifications are simple. Here’s a breakdown of how you can join Synergy in Kona – all expenses paid!
First-Time Qualifier
Team Members looking to qualify and attend for a first time must earn a total of 10 legacy points. Points can start accumulating at the Team Director level and carry over year-to-year. Click here for first-time qualifying details.
First-time Re-qualifier
If you’ve only qualified for and attended one Legacy Retreat in the past, you can re-qualify for Legacy Retreat 2016 in Kona doing one of the following during the 2015 qualification period:
• Maintain your highest executive rank 3 out of 12 months
• Rank advance to a new executive rank
Example 1: You qualified for and attended your first Legacy Retreat as a Team Elite. To qualify for Kona, you must reach a minimum title of Pearl Executive within the 2015 qualification period.
Example 2: You qualified for and attended your first Legacy Retreat as a Pearl Executive. To re-qualify for Kona, you must maintain your title of Pearl Executive 3 out of 12 months or rank advance to at least Emerald Executive within the 2015 qualification period.
If you’ve qualified for and attended Legacy Retreat more than once, you can re-qualify for Legacy Retreat 2016 in Kona by doing one of the following:
• Maintain your highest executive rank 4 out of 12 months
• Rank Advance to a new executive rank
Example: You qualified for and attended Legacy Retreat in 2012 as a Team Director. In 2013 you rank advanced to Pearl Executive, which allowed you to re-qualify and attend that year. In 2014 you only maintained your Pearl Executive title 2 out of 12 months, missing the re-qualification by two maintenance months. In 2015 you need to maintain your Pearl rank 4 out of 12 months or rank advance to Emerald.
Presidential Executives and Above
Team Members at the Presidential Executive level and above have slightly different re-qualifying criteria than the above. In addition, they are eligible to qualify for the VIP Elite Legacy Retreat package. Click here for complete details or contact your General Manager should you need further clarification.

SLMsmart Spotlight: Jim Smith March 2015
It’s been one month since the SLMsmart Challenge officially kicked-off, and many Challengers are already seeing results and feeling great.
Jim Smith of Anaheim has been a positive and incredibly honest challenger so far. He’s tried other programs and diets in his life and sees the value of SLMsmart. Additionally, he’s quick to realize the realities of weight management. He knows it to be tough, he knows it to be rewarding. Here are a few insights he submitted at the end of his first 30 days:
In your Challenge experience, what has been the most pleasant surprise so far?
“The great taste of the new chocolate Health Shake. I typically mix two cups of either kale or spinach with 3 scoops of Health Shake mix and one cup of unsweetened almond milk. I cannot taste the kale or spinach. What a great way to get the benefits of these wonderful vegetables.”
What advice would you give to someone new to SLMsmart and the SLMsmart Challenge?
“Do your daily planning and tracking with the tools provided. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you are not perfect and slip from time to time. Get support wherever you can find it.”
What tool or product has been the most useful to you so far?
“Health Shake and the closed Facebook group.”
What would you say to someone who is CONSIDERING whether or not to join a SLMsmart Challenge?
“If you truly want to lose weight and be healthier, start immediately. If you don’t, you will find yourself looking at the same person in the mirror a year from now and be just as dissatisfied. The key is to take ACTION and START.”
Other thoughts?
“I must admit that it’s a battle. One doesn’t change 30 years of bad lifestyle choices overnight. This kind of program and these questionnaires help keep my goals in focus and allow me to start again every day with new optimism. I am committed to not giving up and making small changes each and every day.”
More spotlights coming soon! It’s not too late to start your own SLMsmart Challenge. For more information, click here or contact Customer Service at (801)769-7800.

About the Expert
Dr. Matthew Tripp received a Ph.D. from Washington State University in Physiology/Microbial Genetics/Microbiology; an M.A. in Microbial Physiology/Bacterial Genetics and a B.S. in Biology both from Western Michigan University. He completed extensive post-doctoral research at the University of California – San Diego where he discovered novel protein phosphorylation cascades involved in nutrient signaling (nutrigenomics) – processes that when disrupted by poor diet, lead to metabolic disease and chronic illness.
His career includes leadership roles and R&D responsibilities at the Kellogg Company, the Miller Brewing Company and Metagenics. He served as the Vice President of Research and Development at Metagenics, a leading developer, manufacturer and distributor of high quality dietary supplements and medical foods sold through health care practitioners in the U.S. and pharmacies abroad. At Metagenics, Dr. Tripp had direct responsibility for managing the discovery, development, safety, and clinical validation of medical foods and nutraceuticals. Significantly, he led the creation of a substantial body of proprietary intellectual property, resulting in over 100 patents and patent applications.
Now, at Nature’s Sunshine Products, the parent company of Synergy WorldWide, Dr. Tripp serves as the Chief Scientific Officer. His responsibilities include working to oversee the company’s product research and development operations. Furthermore, he plays a critical role in clearly defining, developing and communicating the Company’s science strategy and vision to achieve higher organic growth and profitability through innovation.
